Management in education systems

Abstract There is increasing interest in measuring management schools. This paper discusses a popular measurement tool: the World Management Survey (WMS) for Drawing on WMS data, secondary sources, and recent literature school management, we take stock of make recommendations its use future research policy. We conclude that remains highly useful tool stated purpose—the standardized (a subset of) practices within schools—and two sets recommendations. First, encourage those seeking to benchmark schools systems perspective by extending approach upwards into education bureaucracy. Second, when schools, recommend researchers consider: how best assess alignment across operations domain; challenge student learning monitoring target-setting; context specificity people management.
